From the time Australians arrived in South Africa in 1899 to fight alongside
the British, through to the recent UN operations in East Timor, our troops
have proudly served their country.
While overseas, many recorded their feelings and observations in diaries and
letters. Others made sketches or took photographs, while some collected
memorabilia such as badges and post cards.
Each piece has a story attached and makes up a bigger picture. Through each
piece it is possible to tell a nation's history through the eyes of those
who served.
